Calculate gas cost for any road trip or daily commute. Works with MPG and L/100km.
Compare fuel costs for two vehicles on the same trip.

The formula is simple: Fuel Cost = (Distance ÷ MPG) × Gas Price. For a 300-mile trip at 28 MPG with gas at $3.50/gallon: (300 ÷ 28) × $3.50 = 10.7 gallons × $3.50 = $37.50. For a round trip, double the distance. This calculator also shows cost-per-mile, which is useful for comparing reimbursement rates — the IRS standard mileage rate for 2025 is $0.70 per mile for business use.
