Τι είναι η αριθμομηχανή βαθμού;

Μια αριθμομηχανή βαθμού υπολογίζει τη συνολική βαθμολογία του μαθήματος συνδυάζοντας μεμονωμένες βαθμολογίες εργασιών ή εξετάσεων ανάλογα με το βάρος τους στον τελικό βαθμό. Τα περισσότερα μαθήματα χρησιμοποιούν ένα σταθμισμένο σύστημα βαθμολόγησης όπου οι διαφορετικές αξιολογήσεις έχουν διαφορετικά επίπεδα σημασίας — για παράδειγμα, η εργασία για το σπίτι μπορεί να μετρήσει 20%, μια ενδιάμεση 30% και μια τελική εξέταση 50%. A weighted average is calculated by multiplying each score by its weight (as a decimal), summing those products, and dividing by the sum of all weights. For example: Homework 85% × 0.20 = 17; Midterm 78% × 0.30 = 23.4; Final 91% × 0.50 = 45.5. Sum = 85.9%. This is more accurate than a simple average because it accounts for how much each item counts toward the final grade.

The formula is: Required Final Score = (Desired Grade − Current Grade × (1 − Final Weight)) ÷ Final Weight. For example, if your current grade is 82%, the final is worth 30%, and you want a 90%: Required = (0.90 − 0.82 × 0.70) ÷ 0.30 = (0.90 − 0.574) ÷ 0.30 = 0.326 ÷ 0.30 ≈ 108.7% — meaning a 90% course grade is not mathematically achievable with these numbers. The standard 4.0 GPA scale: A+ = 4.0, A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C- = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, F = 0.0. Some schools use a modified scale where A+ = 4.3. A 3.0 GPA is a B average; a 3.5+ is typically required for academic honors (Dean's List); most graduate school programs require a 3.0+ for admission consideration.

The standard US letter grade scale: A+ ≥ 97%, A ≥ 93%, A- ≥ 90%, B+ ≥ 87%, B ≥ 83%, B- ≥ 80%, C+ ≥ 77%, C ≥ 73%, C- ≥ 70%, D ≥ 60%, F below 60%. Some institutions use a simpler scale without plus/minus distinctions. Passing grades for credit are typically D (60%) or C (70%) depending on the institution and course requirements. Always check your specific school's grading policy.
