Energy Converter

Convert energy values between Joules, Calories, Kilocalories (kcal), and BTUs.

Convert Energy and Heat Measurements

Energy is measured differently across different scientific fields and everyday contexts. Physicists use Joules, nutritionists use Kilocalories (often just called "Calories" on food labels), and HVAC technicians use BTUs for heating and cooling systems.

Our Energy Converter instantly translates values between all these systems. Whether you're calculating the energy output of an appliance or converting a food's kilojoules into calories, this tool provides precise conversions based on international standards.

Usein kysytyt kysymykset

In physics, a small calorie (cal) is the energy needed to heat 1 gram of water by 1°C. However, the 'Calories' you see on food labels are actually Kilocalories (kcal), which equal 1,000 small calories.

BTU stands for British Thermal Unit. It's a traditional unit of heat defined as the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit. It's widely used in air conditioning and heating.

One small calorie (cal) is exactly 4.184 Joules. Therefore, one food calorie (kcal) is equal to 4,184 Joules (or 4.184 Kilojoules).
