What is a spacebar counter?
A spacebar counter (or spacebar clicker) counts how many times you can tap the spacebar, either freely or against a timer. It's a popular way to measure spacebar speed for gaming, to settle "who can press fastest" challenges, or just to test a keyboard's spacebar. Your presses per second is the total presses divided by the time — most people manage 5–8 presses per second, while fast tappers exceed 10.
How to use
- Choose a timer (or "No timer" for free counting).
- Focus the box and press the spacebar — on mobile, tap the box.
- The timer starts on your first press and counts every hit.
- Your total and presses-per-second show automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Around 5–8 presses per second is average. Fast users hit 10+ per second using rapid finger tapping. Over a longer 60-second test the rate drops as your hand tires.
Gamers use it to practise fast spacebar inputs, some use it to test whether a keyboard's spacebar registers every press, and others use it for speed challenges with friends.
Yes — mobile devices have no spacebar, so simply tap the box instead. Each tap counts as one press.
