The Yasso 800s Pacing Method

Developed by Bart Yasso, former chief officer of Runner's World, **Yasso 800s** is a popular marathon training benchmark. The theory states that if you can run 10 repeats of 800 meters at a pace of X minutes and Y seconds (with equal recovery intervals), you should be physically capable of completing a marathon in X hours and Y minutes.

Start with 4 to 5 repeats early in your training cycle, and build up to 10 repeats 2-3 weeks before your marathon.

Take active recovery (jogging or walking) for the same duration as your target 800m time.
